Lay’s Classic Meats
One of our region’s most endearing commercials from our past remain the Lay’s “Three Little Pigs”, who sang their way into our conscience during the 1960’s and 70’s. Founded by the Lay family in Knoxville, Tennessee back in 1921, the Lay’s Classic Meats name continues to represent top quality meat products at competitive prices. At one time, Lay’s Quikstart Wieners were the top selling hot dog in the area, outselling even the national brands. Back by popular demand, you’ll find a complete line of sliced luncheon meats, bacon, ham, chili, sloppy joe, Three Pig Wieners, Touchdown Beef Franks, Quikstart Wieners, Ole Timer Sausage and Lay’s Bologna are available at your local Super Dollar.
Kay’s Classic Ice Cream
Super Dollar Discount Foods is pleased to bring our customers a tremendous line-up of classic regional brands. The first of these brands is Kay’s Ice Cream, which like Super Dollar Discount Foods was a family-owned operation based in Knoxville, TN. Kay’s Ice Cream is perhaps best known for the wide variety of flavors they offered consumers at a time when variety was limited. In a world previously dominated by chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, the company made combinations like Butter Pecan a household name. That tradition continues today with old childhood favorites along with several new flavor combinations. Our Kay’s line also includes no-sugar added and frozen yogurt varieties. The outstanding flavor and quality of Kay’s Ice Cream, along with the lower than national brand price, is sure to make this old favorite a new favorite with our customers.
Kern’s Bread
A favorite in our region for many years, Super Dollar is happy to be a part of bringing Kern’s Bread and Snacks back to our store shelves. A complete line of white, wheat, honey wheat and lite wheat breads are now available, featuring the original batter-whipped recipe. Also available are fresh baked cakes, including single serve snack cakes, angel food and pound cakes. The new Kern’s line continues to be produced in its hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee by Sara Lee Bakeries’ Chapman Highway facility.
